Main Task Photo Shoot

In Media, we were working on music magazines, in my mock up music magazine I used the band the 1975 because they spark my interest which allows me to put more time into my magazine. In the mock up of this magazine I used photos found off the internet. However, in my actual final piece, I used DSLR camera's to take my images,I tried to use a range of angles, the rule of thirds and settings to make the images taken look as professional and as well suited to my magazine as possible. The images I took for my magazine and contents page are below:

Here, I applied the rule of thirds to my picture. I am going to have this as my front cover main image, by using the rule of thirds and making the main focus of the image to the right of the page I will attract more attention as people are more focused to an image if it is less central and more left or right orientated. By getting the background of the building and the visual pollution of the bin, I have created setting and a character for people to look at, he comes across as having a background and he isn't in the most affluent. This appeals to my target audience because I want them to look a little rough as I think my audience would be more attracted to a 'bad boy' rather than a normal boy, my audience like unique which is the image I am trying to get across.

I will use the images on my contents page, I used a close up and a range of areas in and out of focus as I think that it looks arty and interesting. I feel the my target audience will like the colours and the range of lights in the photos of the guitar, the are relevant to the magazine as it is about the band the 1975 and they use guitars.

By going outside I could use natural light and more colourful settings, I think that by doing this is makes the photos look more professional and more artistic which how I want my magazine to look. The use of sunlight, blue sky and clouds make the image look natural and pure, the way the light reflects over the model outlines him as the main subject of the image making the audience's attention be more drawn to him.

The use of a black backdrop makes the model the subject of the image, as this is the only thing in focus it is hard to miss and the audiences attention will be drawn straight to it. Also the use of bloc colours is good as it makes the image simplistic increasing the quality.

Using a slow shutter speed of 4 seconds and a source of light (my model used a torch)I was able to create a 'painting with lights' effect' by doing this, it makes my magazine artistic and attracts the audience as it is unique and not seen in many music magazines.

These Mid shots of the models, the first two are taken with Tom at the front and the other two out of focus, the second is taken at a low angle looking upward. By doing this it shows the models are the subject of the image but it also shows the background as well. Showing the background it gives the audience a perspective of the area that they're in, the surroundings will fit the audience as they can relate to the settings.

With these shots I used a white backdrop, this will make it easier for me to edit the images on Photoshop where I will produce my music magazine. I also used white lighting the make the backdrop lighter and a fan to add more definition to my models. I made the models give direct mode of address because it draws in the attention of the audience.

Overall, I have produced good quality photos that will be featured in my magazine and contents page, by using the DSLR camera it allowed me to get high quality images, using this and evidently using skills to alter the lighting and effects of the image make it professional. To continue with my images I will edit them in Photoshop and make them more suited to my magazine.
